Fiona Hewitt

Senior Associate and Head of Employment and Commercial Disputes

Career History

Qualifying in 2002, I am an experienced Solicitor and Accredited Mediator specialising in employment law and commercial dispute resolution including corporate support, HR training and Tribunal claims, shareholder and partnership disputes, PR/media and reputation management. I am a huge fan of mediation; litigation should always be a last resort but where that is the best option, I’ve been told that I am like a terrier with a rat. I think that’s a compliment.

Fiona and the Commercial Litigation team are listed in the Legal 500 2021 edition. Follow the web link for full details of the Legal 500 rankings.

Recent Cases

Having trained at a ground-breaking firm, I then worked at a national law firm before I went on to co-found a firm in which my department was listed in the Legal 500. I also worked for myself for a period of around 6 years before returning to private practice to lead a large department at a regional firm.

I am proud to be a Committee Member of the Law Society’s Lawyers with Disabilities Division. I am Honorary Solicitor for Team Endeavour Racing, part of the Invictus Games Foundation - find out more.

The Commercial Litigation was listed in the Legal 500 ranking for 2021 with Fiona being mentioned. Head of employment and commercial disputes, Fiona Hewitt, specialises primarily in commercial dispute resolution, with experience involving topics such as shareholder and partnership disputes, reputation management and IP.

What makes me human

Being a Mum (much harder than a High Court trial), raising awareness of hidden/unusual disabilities, reggae music, cookery and banning puppy farms.
