Neves Solicitors has expanded two of their specialist teams with the appointment of Fiona Hewitt and Kim Sayer.
Kim Sayer (pictured right) has joined as a Company Commercial Solicitor, working alongside the firm’s Joint Managing Partner and Head of Company Commercial Law, Stewart Matthews.
After working in Milton Keynes for a number of years, Kim worked at a national firm in London, specialising in contract, commercial and healthcare law. She has spent the last few years developing a full commercial offering at a local firm before joining Neves to expand the Company Commercial Department.
Kim works with clients ranging from Local Authority bodies and large companies, to small businesses and sole traders. She is experienced in all areas of commercial law - in particular protecting the interests of owners, companies and businesses by putting in place robust agreements between shareholders or partnerships; franchising, service, supply and licencing arrangements; sales and purchases; as well as terms and conditions. When advising her clients Kim believes in the importance of understanding the realities of their business alongside the legal requirements, taking a pragmatic approach to achieve desired outcomes.
Kim also has a keen interest in data protection/GDPR, policy making and the ongoing impact this has on her clients, especially those in the education and healthcare sectors.
Fiona Hewitt (pictured left) joins as a Senior Associate and Head of Employment and Commercial Litigation, working with Peter Kelly, Joint Managing Partner and Head of Disputes.
Fiona is an experienced Solicitor and Accredited Mediator specialising in employment law and commercial dispute resolution including corporate support, HR training and Tribunal claims, shareholder and partnership disputes, PR/media and reputation management. She is a huge fan of mediation “Litigation should always be a last resort but where that is the best option, I can be counted on”.
Having trained at a ground-breaking firm, Fiona then worked at a national law firm before going on to co-found a firm in which her department was listed in the Legal 500. She also worked for herself for a period of around 6 years before returning to private practice to lead a large department at a regional firm.
Fiona comments “I pride myself in delivering advice, guidance and representation clearly and pragmatically. I always focus on meeting my clients' business needs as well as their legal requirements in order to provide a comprehensive package of advice. This means that I really get to know what is important to my clients; often attending board meetings and site visits”.
Stewart Matthews, Joint Managing Partner and Head of Company Commercial Law says “I am very pleased to welcome Fiona Hewitt and Kim Sayer to Neves. Fiona brings with her a wealth of experience acting for both individuals and businesses as both lawyer and trained mediator. She is an excellent addition and allows us to develop this already busy department. Whilst Fiona joins Neves from an Aylesbury firm, she has her roots in Milton Keynes having worked previously for local firms and also for herself and has many contacts in and around this area.
Kim joins from a nearby firm and therefore has excellent knowledge of the local area and many contacts in and around Milton Keynes. Kim’s addition to the team will allow us to maintain the highest client satisfaction levels whilst servicing the increasing volume of company commercial work that Neves continues to receive.
Both Fiona and Kim have quickly settled in to the Neves team and have shown very early on that they share our ethos and we are very excited to have them on board”.
