One Lawyer, One Couple : Resolution Together

Resolution Together is a way of working that allows lawyers to work with and advise couples jointly, including providing appropriate legal advice, through a divorce or separation. Resolution Together has been developed by Resolution, whose code of practice seeks to support couples and families to resolve issues in a non-confrontational and constructive manner.
Neves can assist you together to reach an outcome that will also be able to help you record your decisions in a binding way.

What is One Lawyer, One Couple : Resolution Together?

Resolution Together is a way of working that allows lawyers to work with and advise couples jointly, including providing appropriate legal advice, through a divorce or separation. We can assist you together to reach an outcome that will also be able to help you record your decisions in a binding way.

The benefits of the One Lawyer, One Couple : Resolution Together

  • Joint approach avoids "winners and losers"
  • Focuses on what's best for the family
  • Can be less stressful
  • Time efficient
  • Can avoid costly court proceedings

How does it work?

As a separating or already separated couple, you both work with one lawyer who can provide you with advice. We will meet with you individually to discuss whether this is the best process for you. We can then have joint meetings to consider financial disclosure and provide detailed legal advice aimed at reaching a solution where the needs of the family are met.

Is One Lawyer, One Couple : Resolution Together right for me?

It works best for couples who want to manage their separation together. It is suitable for those whose joint aim is to reach an outcome that meets their needs and if they are parents, the needs of their children.

Who is it suitable for?

It will work well if you are able to answer yes to the following questions:

  • are you committed to working towards your own solutions amicably together?
  • are you willing to be open and honest with sharing all relevant information including financial or other required disclosure?
  • are you both emotionally ready and able to work together to solve problems?
  • are you both able to take part in the process and participate fully and freely?

Who is it not suitable for?

There are circumstances where Resolution Together will not be suitable, where for example:

  • there are, have been or may be concerns about past or ongoing abuse within the relationship
  • there is a safeguarding concern in relation to an adult or a child
  • emotions are running high
  • there is a significant imbalance of power between you that cannot be managed
  • one or both of you will not provide all the relevant information needed and/or will not confirm that you have done so
  • one of you is, or feels, unable to make decisions freely
  • there is any actual or perceived concern that either or both of you may be involved in unlawful activity
  • there are legal or other complexities that will be difficult to address together with one lawyer

If the Resolution Together approach is not suitable for you, then there is still a wide range of dispute resolution options available, and our expert lawyers will advise on a solution to best help you.

One Couple, One Lawyer: Resolution Together
5/5 Star review
I just wanted to say thank you to Beth Woodward, who has kindly supported and guided me at every stage throughout my difficult post-divorce enforcement proceedings. The solicitor of the other side is from a small firm and he is willing to go very far to profit on the legal loopholes by using many dishonest tricks. While maintaining her own professional standards, Beth has adopted a highly cautious and tactful approach dealing with the situation. I am very happy with the final outcome we have achieved in the end and I would like to give 5 stars for the assistance I have received!

Great service. From start of my process to the finish I always knew where I stood! Jackie has been amazing and highly recommend her.

My first introduction to Neves to handle a commercial lease and all related documentation surrounding mortgage application. Katy made the job easy and turned around the whole process with speed and efficiency with no issues.

I had used Neves to purchase a house as they were recommended. Unfortunately i was assigned another solicitor who was awful. Thankfully she left and Alima and Awais took over the final registering process which was filled with issues. They did a fantastic job, Alima always responded and was professional. This was much more like the service i was expecting in the first place when they were recommended to me. Due to these two, i would happily use Neves again.

Neves recently undertook our conveyancing and did an excellent job; the communication from Charlene Shillingford and her team throughout the whole process was top notch - I don’t recall being kept so up to date during the selling and buying of a house before. Queries were handled quickly and with the minimum of fuss, even when ‘the other side’ were being ‘difficult’. I’ve no reservation in recommending Neves. My heartfelt thanks to Charlene and the conveyancing team for their diligence and care during what can be a fraught time.
