Career History

I specialise in family law, having trained at a top regional law firm and qualifying in 2010. In 2014 I moved to a firm in Buckingham as head of their Family Department before joining Neves in December 2021 as an Associate.

Tina is listed in the Legal 500 2024 edition.
Being recommended by Legal 500 provides clients with an independent assessment of our ability, gives a flavour of who we are and what sets us apart from other law firms. Follow the web link for full details of the Legal 500 rankings.

Experience

I am a member of Resolution and hold a Specialist Accreditation in Private Children Law and ToLATA (cohabitation) matters. I am also a trained collaborative lawyer and member of the Milton Keynes group of collaborative lawyers. I am a Resolution Together specialist lawyer. Resolution Together, developed by Resolution, is a way of working that allows lawyers to work with and advise couples jointly, including providing appropriate legal advice, through a divorce or separation.

Whilst my work is largely focused on financial settlements arising from relationship breakdowns and child related issues, I have experience in all areas of family law, including but not limited to, assisting grandparents with their grandchildren through special guardianship orders and child arrangements, acting for clients with assets abroad such as in India and Europe, or those with family farms and businesses. I have also dealt with child relocation cases and complex cases dealing with narcissistic individuals.

What makes me human

I have two young children who take up most of my free time, but when not working and doing activities with the family, I love spending time with friends and reading. I enjoy fundraising and charity work and in the past I regularly contributed to pro bono work at the CAB, assisting with family matters.

New research has highlighted how the gender pension gap disproportionately affects women. On average men retire with a pension pot of £250,000 whilst women retire with pensions of £69,000. This is largely due to the higher rates of women working part-time and the gender pay gap.

Excellent service/support provided by Tina Shah during my sons divorce. Would not hesitate to recommend Tina to anyone in need of a good family solicitor.
