Property title fraud is where a criminal steals a property owner’s identity. The criminal can then apply for loans using the true owner’s property as collateral or they could attempt to sell or mortgage the property by pretending to be them.

If the fraud isn't discovered promptly, the true property owner might find their property has been transferred or sold without their knowledge.  Property that is empty, rented out or mortgage-free is more at risk.

Charlene Shillingford is a Senior Associate at Neves Solicitors and believes that a successful conveyancing transaction requires building a good rapport with clients to help walk them through all of the complexities of searches.

Here she explains the importance of environmental searches.

Huge Congratulations go to two members of our Residential Property and Conveyancing Team this month.

Neves Solicitors are strengthening the expert Residential Property Team with the appointment of Associate, Lucy Madley, who will be based at the Harpenden office.

Lucy specialised in Residential Conveyancing before becoming qualified as a Chartered Legal Executive in 2011. She has advised buyers, sellers and lenders in relation to a variety of Residential Property transactions.

We are delighted to have been shortlisted for the Regional Conveyancing Firm of the Year category in the LFS Conveyancing Awards 2019. This will be the 8th Annual Conveyancing awards, making it the largest, most respected and most prestigious conveyancing awards.
