No Fault Divorce came into force on the 6th April 2022.

Under the new legislation, you can divorce without having to blame your spouse. Previously, parties could only apply for a Divorce if they were able to prove to the Court that their marriage has irretrievably broken down by establishing one of five specific facts. Under the previous system, unless you had been separated for two years and you had both agreed to get divorced, one of you had to effectively blame the other for your marriage having broken down.

Whilst arranged marriages are now less common, British Asian divorce figures indicate that more and more couples are less inclined to stay in unhappy marriages than previous generations. Over the last decade, I have seen social media support this 'sea-change', for example, there are many Instagram pages dedicated to normalising divorce in Asian culture using various memes and quotes.

In September 2021, the government announced that all children without an underlying health condition aged 12+ would be offered Covid-19 vaccination. On 30^th January 2022, it went on to announce that children aged 5-11 who are in a clinical risk group or who live with someone who is immune-suppressed will be able to get the first dose of the COVID vaccine.

The Court has recently set aside a divorce that the wife did not know about. Her husband had filled out the Acknowledgement of Service for the divorce and falsified her signature on the document.
