Our aim is to provide you and your family with the best advice possible and believe in a no nonsense, no jargon approach. As a result most of our clients come to us from recommendation by the family and friends of existing clients.

When should you come to us?

As your financial standing is certain to change over time, you should review your affairs regularly, and certainly before any major events such as:

  • Getting married
  • Buying a home
  • Having children
  • Retiring
  • Other life changing events, like divorce or bereavement, should also trigger a review of your assets.

We offer a confidential and personal service to clients. The solicitor you see will help you to review your affairs and can advise you on all aspects of personal wealth, giving you and your dependants' peace of mind.

Some 70% of people die without a will. The rules of intestacy which apply can lead to unexpected results and unnecessary distress for the family. As well as ensuring that your estate passes to those to whom you intend, we can help to save thousands of pounds with some simple ideas which can be included in a will.

Probate & Intestacy

Probate & Intestacy

In the event of someone dying, we are here to support you. We are experienced in dealing with all aspects of estate administration in a proactive, efficient and sensitive manner. This will include the application to the court to obtain probate and the preparation and submission of all necessary tax returns.

Lasting Power of Attorney

Lasting Power of Attorney

Should the worst happen, and you lose your mental capacity you can protect your property, finances and health and welfare with a Lasting Power of Attorney, (LPA).  This is a legal document whereby you can give another person (‘your attorney’) authority to make certain decisions on your behalf.

Inheritance Claims and Will Disputes

Inheritance Claims and Will Disputes

Inheritance claims and will disputes are very different but both relate to what happens to a person’s estate after they have died.

Trusts and Tax Planning

Trusts and Tax Planning

When you have made a tax efficient will, any further tax mitigation must be by gifting and actions taken during your lifetime. We can work with your accountant or other professional advisors and advise on schemes or trusts which may avoid or reduce your Inheritance Tax and/or Capital Gains Tax liability.

Declarations of Trust

Declarations of Trust

Declarations of Trust, also known as Trust Deeds, are used to record the beneficial ownership, also known as equitable ownership, of a property between two or more parties.

Safeguarding Vulnerable Adults

Safeguarding Vulnerable Adults

If you have full or partial responsibility for a relative suffering from dementia, learning disability, or mental disorder then sometimes that responsibility weighs heavily.  There are difficult decisions to be made about keeping your loved one physically well and healthy but ensuring they have a good quality of life.

Under Rule 1 of the SRA Transparency Rules we are required to publish information on our prices for some of the services we offer. Here we set out our Probate fees.

When my mother died I had to obtain Probate. The process has been quick and without difficulty which I never expected. This is in no small part due to Nina’s efforts. The loss of my mother did not go unnoticed by Nina who was sympathetic and showed understanding. Neves have proved approachable, reliable, efficient and knowledgeable.
