Neves strengthen their Commercial and Family teams

09 December 2021

Neves Solicitors has expanded two of their specialist teams with the appointment of Simon Porter and Tina Shah.

Simon Porter has joined as a Senior Associate in the Company Commercial department, working alongside the firm’s Joint Managing Partner and Head of Company Commercial Law, Stewart Matthews and Company Commercial Solicitor, Kim Sayer.

Simon has a broad range of corporate and commercial experience gained over a 30+ year career, both in the UK and internationally. He trained and practised at a leading City firm, Slaughter and May, and has worked at other City and regional firms as well as offshore in the Cayman Islands for a number of years.

Simon has acted for SME business owners across a range of industry sectors (hotels and leisure, aviation services and healthcare are highlights) on a variety of corporate and commercial matters. These include buying and selling companies and businesses, investment and fundraising rounds, corporate restructuring, advising on share incentive schemes such as EMI and unapproved options, commercial contract drafting and advice and work-out solutions.

Simon comments "I am very pleased to join the Neves Company commercial team who have a strong local presence.  I am looking forward to contributing my 30+ years of knowledge and experience to further develop the firm's practice"

Tina Shah joins the Family Law team as an Associate Solicitor, working with Partner and Head of Divorce and Family Law, Beth Woodward.

After training at a top regional law firm and qualifying in 2010, Tina moved to a firm in Buckingham as head of their Family Department before joining Neves.

Tina is a member of Resolution and holds a Specialist Accreditation in Private Children Law and ToLATA (cohabitation) matters. She is also a trained collaborative lawyer and member of the Milton Keynes group of collaborative lawyers. Whilst Tina's work is largely focused on financial settlements arising from relationship breakdowns and child-related issues, she has experience in all areas of family law, including but not limited to, assisting grandparents with their grandchildren through special guardianship orders and child arrangements, acting for clients with assets abroad such as in India and Europe, or those with family farms and businesses. She has also dealt with child relocation cases and complex cases dealing with narcissistic individuals.

Tina comments "I am delighted to be joining Neves’ leading Family Law Department. I bring with me over a decade of family law experience, I pride myself on providing clients with pragmatic solutions to issues at what is often a very difficult time in their lives.  I am keen to continue to build on the department’s strong reputation and deliver excellent service to both new and existing clients."

Stewart MatthewsJoint Managing Partner and Head of Company Commercial Law welcomes Simon and Tina “I am very pleased to welcome Simon and Tina to Neves. Simon brings with him extensive corporate and commercial experience. He is an excellent addition and allows us to further develop this already busy department. With her diverse wealth of experience, I believe Tina will prove invaluable to the clients that we assist and support, strengthening and developing our already very experienced and dynamic team of family lawyers across all three of our offices in Harpenden, Luton and Milton Keynes."

Both Simon and Tina have quickly settled into the Neves team and have shown very early on that they share our ethos. We are very excited to have them on board”.
